51/2 cups flour
5 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 lb margarine
2 1/2 cups sugar
2 tsp anisette or anise
1/2 cup milk
4 eggs
Blend together all ingredients. Roll out the size of a finger. Dip in milk, cover with sesame seeds. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° until light brown.

This is Fran's grandmother's recipe from Italy. I begged Fran for the recipe after visiting her grandmother in New York. Meeting Fran's grandmother, Jenny, in 1978 was more than a visit...it was an experience. The house was filled with the aroma of tomato sauce simmer for hours with homemade Italian sausage.
