Three Bean Bake

1 lb hamburger
8 slices bacon
1/2 c white sugar
1/2 cu catsup
1 t salt
3/4 cu brown sugar
1 t vinegar
1 onion, diced
2 t mustard
1 can red beans
1 can pork & beans
1 can butter beans


Brown hamburger and bacon, drain grease. Add to remaining ingredients in a casserole dish and bake 1 hour at 375°.

This recipe came from Dianna Dawson Minick. She brought it to a family gathering around 1973. It was full of sugar so of course I loved it! This was one of the first recipes I ever asked anyone to share. I was going to Vincennes University and living on my own for the first time. So it was a handy dish for an active student.

I still have the original recipe written by Dianna on a page of the weekly planner mom kept recipes in. I am not sure what happened to the rest of the planner or when I torn this page out. - Brenda Dawson
